For tutors

Your rate. Your students. 80% of it, from lesson one.

You already know the subject — you sat it. What you should not have to do is build a client list, chase payment, or hand an agency a third of the hour for putting your face on a directory.

The money

Commission falls as your hours build. It never rises.

Your commission is stamped onto each booking when it is accepted. If we ever change this ladder, it cannot reach back and alter what you were already owed.

What you actually get

The parts that are not teaching

$139.20
Check reimbursed

We pay your Victorian Working with Children Check back in full after your 10th completed lesson.

Friday
Paid weekly

For lessons you have completed, straight to your bank. Stripe holds your account details — Chalkden never sees them.

50%
If they cancel late

Inside 24 hours, half the rate is yours, with no commission taken on it. You held the time and turned down other work.

1

You set the rate

Per subject, changed whenever you like. Most Melbourne tutors sit between $45 and $70 an hour.

2

You choose the students

Every booking is a request you accept or decline. No allocation, no quota, no lock-in and no notice period.

3

The plan is already written

A diagnostic works out what the student is missing, so you arrive knowing what to teach.

4

The report writes itself

Two minutes of wrap-up at the end becomes the written report the parent gets.

What we ask of you

A confirmed university email, identity documents reviewed by a person, and — if you want to teach anyone under 18 — a current Victorian Working with Children Check. You can start teaching adults and university students while yours is being processed.

We are recruiting the first cohort now, for Victorian Term 1, 2027. Being early means your profile is live and aged before the first families arrive, and it means reaching 12% commission sooner than anyone who joins later.
